About

Smartleggio is a sheet music reader application which tries to improve the process of reading and performing from sheet music.

Smartleggio is a sheet music reader application created by Dmitri Ovodok. The project aims to implement the vision of a modern sheet music reading application which would use the potential of technology to help musicians read and perform from sheet music, yet retaining the advantages of older approaches. The application has a number of features intended towards this goal:

  1. Support for sheet music in widespread MusicXML and PDF file formats;
  2. Own file format designed for optimal experience of reading sheet music on tablets and other mobile devices;
  3. Automatic page turning using microphone data or data from a MIDI connection;
  4. Experimental OMR (optical music recognition) functionality for PDF scores to facilitate playback and automatic page turning for scores in this format;
  5. Basic score library management features;
  6. Basic editing and annotation features.

In addition to that, an access to a free online library of piano scores is provided within the application.

Currently the project is focused on piano playing experience, although it can be useful for other pitched instruments too.

Smartleggio is being actively developed, and the team plans to expand and improve the application in future. If you have any suggestions, feedback or face any issues with the app, please write us an e-mail at support@smartleggio.com.
